We Are Thankful!

Principal’s Perspective: We are Thankful!

Thanksgiving is one of our best holidays. It has very few distractions, and allows us to focus on the true reason for celebrating. Our two greatest presidents, Washington and Lincoln, were instrumental in the establishment of this blessed holiday. They both realized a republic without God’s providence would collapse into the chaos of hatred and selfishness.

This is a great time for families to come together and reaffirm their appreciation to their Creator for all that He has provided for them. As parents, we can instill within our children those morals that can capture their hearts for a lifetime of godly pursuits.

The ancient Roman philosopher, Cicero, stated that gratitude was the “mother” of all the virtues.

St. Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians, “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”  We all admire people who are humble and grateful. When we see celebrities demonstrate thankfulness and humility, they are respected even if their career collapses. It is a great gift for us to model a thankful heart before others. Our children will enjoy a life of good relationships if they embrace gratitude and humility as their own life virtues.

Those of us here at Northville Christian School, are very grateful to the Lord for His gracious leading. We are fortunate to be able to share truth, love and self-discipline with our students. Years from now, we will see the fruit that comes from raising children with a humble Christian worldview. We have been blessed with an abundance, which allows us to carry on the tradition set down by our forefathers to raise our students with the truth that only comes from Jesus Christ.

This year we wanted to release the godly influence of parents within the school, so we have reached out to the 4th and 8th grade parents to create a united community. We have brought teachers, parents and alumni parents together three times to create a community of intimacy and faith. The alumni parents and their stories of hope have inspired us. I am grateful for the growth and revelation that is growing within our relationships. The body of Christ is God’s solution for a broken world.

I am grateful that our community is filled with wise and mature believers, who encourage and inspire us. We thank all the staff, the parents and students for supporting and praying for everyone in our school community.

May we be ever thankful to the Lord Jesus for His grace as we touch lives for eternity.
