Sonja Windisch

Sonja began her NCS Career in the Learning Lab.  She worked with struggling readers and other students who needed academic support.  In 2000, Sonja became the Program Director for early elementary and then became the Vice Principal in 2003.  Each week, Sonja meets with groups of students in 3rd-7th grades for mentoring. 

Before working at NCS, Sonja worked in other local public and private schools.  She taught Special Education in Redford Union and first grade in Grosse Pointe. In the Plymouth Canton Schools, Sonja worked as a teacher and reading specialist;  developing a reading program for the entire district.  She also worked as a reading specialist at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Northville.

Sonja was married for 33 years to her late husband, Jay Windisch. She has two children and daughter-in-law, Diane and two grandchildren.  Sonja likes reading, exercising, golfing and taking vacations with her family.

Sonja says, “I enjoy and am daily encouraged by the amazing, Godly NCS and NCA staff. I enjoy being led by the Holy Spirit to share God’s truths and I appreciate the freedom to pray with the students, parents and staff.”
